The inspiration for the name Guided Wealth resulted from profound “soul searching” about the genuine value we bring to our client’s lives. I believe that True financial planning2 is not a one-time engagement. Instead, it is a life-long journey that has many twists and turns, some expected, but many unexpected. We find that our process forms strong relationships with our clients and they rely on us when making prudent financial decisions.
Everyone is on a path to a destination. The question becomes “Do you know where your destination is?” and “Do you know how to get there?”. During our initial consultations with prospective clients, we tend to hear similar goals. The most common goal we hear is “I want to retire.” or “I want to make sure I’m on track to retire.”. However, it is uncommon for us to hear “My goal is to retire in three years when I turn 67 and I want to make sure I can take two trips to Europe annually for the first ten years after retirement...”. The point being that people often do not have clearly defined goals. If you’re an existing client reading this, you can attest to the fact that we spend a considerable amount of time clarifying your goals. This process allows us to define a specific destination.
Now that we have a clear destination, we work toward building a roadmap to achieve these goals. Oftentimes, “destinations” in financial planning2 are long-term goals. For instance, pre-retirees that we work with may begin planning for retirement 15 years before they are planning to “hang up their hats”. (Guess what, when you reach retirement, an entirely new journey begins – usually it’s planning for the rest of your life, which can be another 30 or more years). This is where “Guided Wealth” comes from. We serve our clients as trusted guides for their financial journeys every step of the way. We understand what is at stake and strive to provide our clients with the best guidance to accomplish their goals.
To all our clients, we want to thank you for allowing us to join and guide you on your journey.
